El BAO Schmidt CCD Asteroid Program o Beijing Schmidt CCD Asteroid Program o SCAP va ser organitzat el Maig de 1995 pel Beijing Astronomical Observatory y finançat per Chinese Academy of Science. El seu propòsit era descobrir objectes propers a la Terra (NEAs en anglès) i cometes.
Aparell
L'instrument que utilitza SCAP per detectar els objectes propers a la Terra era un telescopi Schmidt 60/90 cm. Equipat amb una camara CCD 2048x2048 pixels, aquest telescopi vas ser instal·lat en l'estació de BAO Xinglong en la provincia de Hebei, Xina.
Descobriments
Del 1995 al 1999, el programa SCAP ha detectat 1 nou cometa, 2460 nous asteroids y ha observat 43860 altres asteroids, esdevenint el cinquè major projecte d'observació d'asteroids de la història. Cinc dels asteroids descobers eren NEAs.
Per alguna raó, al voltant de la meitat dels descobriments s'han registrat en el Minor Planet Center (MPC) amb "BAO Schmidt" i l'altra meitat amb "Beijing Schmidt". Es però ampliament conegut que aquests són el mateix.
