Benthosema pterotum és una espècie de peix de la família dels mictòfids i de l'ordre dels mictofiformes.

Morfologia

Alimentació

Menja principalment copèpodes i larves de crustacis.[4]

Depredadors

És depredat per Lophius litulon (a Corea),[6] Diaphus coeruleus (Taiwan), Larimichthys polyactis, Euthynnus affinis (Taiwan),[7] Scomber japonicus, Champsodon capensis i Galeus nipponensis (Japó).[8][9]

Hàbitat

És un peix marí i d'aigües profundes que viu entre 10-300 m de fondària.[4]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des del Mar d'Aràbia[10] fins a l'oest del Pacífic. Se n'ha confirmat la presència de larves a la costa oriental de Sud-àfrica, però no pas d'adults.[11][4][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] [21][22][23][24]
