Massimiliano Biaggi, més conegut com a Max Biaggi (Roma, 26 de juny de 1971)^[1] és un pilot de motociclisme italià, quatre vegades consecutives Campió del món de 250cc (1994 a 1997) i dues de Superbike (2010 i 2012). Se'l coneix popularment com a L'Emperador Romà i Mad Max.

Carrera esportiva

Inicis

Quan va fer els 17 anys rebé de regal una Plantilla:Bike RS152, amb la qual començà a competir a 18 anys. El 1990 guanyà el Campionat italià de producció sport. Gràcies a aquest fet pogué pujar als 250cc.

250cc

El 1991 Biaggi competí en el Campionat europeu de 250cc amb una Aprilia RS250, campionat que compaginà amb 4 curses del mundial de 250cc. Acabà la seva primera temporada complerta al mundial de 250cc el 1992 en cinquena posició final, havent aconseguit una victória.

El 1993 fitxà per Honda aconseguint la quarta posició final del campionat i una nova victòria. Tanmateix, el 1994 retornà a Aprilia, marca amb la qual dominà el Campionat durant tres temporades, tot aconseguint el títol mundial tres anys consecutius. El 1997 retornà a Honda, a l'equipo d'Erv Kanemoto, aconseguint el seu quart títol consecutiu a la cilindrada. Després, decidí passar als 500cc.

500cc

Debutà a la "categoria reina" el 1998 amb Honda, aconseguint la pole, la volta ràpida i la victória a la seva primera cursa en aquesta categoria (al Circuit de Suzuka). Aquell any aconseguiria fer-se amb el sotscampionat darrere el gran Michael Doohan.

De cara a la temporada 1999 decidí canviar de marca i acceptar l'oferta de Yamaha. Finalitzà quart al campionat d'aquell any, tercer al del 2000 i sotscampió novament al del 2001.

MotoGP

Amb la transició de 500cc a MotoGP Biaggi continuà a Yamaha, obtenint al 2002 quatre victóries i un nou sotscampionat per darrera de Valentino Rossi.

L'any 2003 retornà a Honda. enrolat al equip Camel Honda Pons de Sito Pons, amb el qual acabà tercer del campionat (resultat que repetiria al 2004). Posteriorment, la temporada 2005 passà a ser pilot oficial d'Honda amb l'equip Repsol junt a Nicky Hayden, però la seva cinquena posició final suposà el seu acomiadament i substitució per Dani Pedrosa.

Biaggi s'oferí pel 2006 a la majoria de fabricants però no aconseguí cap plaça, amb la qual cosa decidí retirar-se del mundial de velocitat.

Superbikes

Després d'un 2006 sabàtic, arribà a un acord amb l'equip oficial de Suzuki de Superbikes per a córrer la temporada 2007, substituint Troy Corser. Biaggi debutà amb victòria en aquest campionat, finalitzant en tercera posició després d'una temporada irregular. La retirada de Suzuki del mundial de Superbikes propicià el seu fitxatge per Ducati el 2008, dins l'equip Sterilgarda Go Eleven, tenint-hi de company el català Rubén Xaus.

Finalment, a partir del 2009 passà a competir amb l'equip d'Aprilia, amb el qual guanyà el Campionat del Món d'aquesta categoria l'any 2010. La temporada de 2012 repetí èxit, també amb Aprilia.
